Data & Information Architecture
What is it?
Data and Information Architecture refers to the way that an organisation organises data and information. It affects how well companies manage and use their data and information in their business operations.
Information architecture is business-facing, meaning that business requirements drive it. It often uses visual representations, such as conceptual and logical data models, data flow diagrams, and business process models. Often, these data models are representations of an organisation’s metadata.
Data architecture, on the other hand, is technology-facing. It is the foundation for information architecture and translates the models into database designs and specifications that define how data is captured, stored, updated, and integrated.
